Privacy policy

Last updated 4 October 2026

This policy explains what information QuitVaping.co.uk ("we", "us") collects, why, and the choices you have. The data controller is [company name, registered number, registered office; ICO registration number]. Questions: hello@quitvaping.co.uk.

The short version

When you browse the site

Our hosting provider (Railway, with servers in the European Union: [confirm region, for example the Netherlands]) and our security and content delivery provider (Cloudflare) process technical information needed to deliver pages and protect the site, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request. This is kept only briefly in logs.

Our own visitor statistics

We count visits ourselves, without cookies. For each page view we record the page, the website that linked to it, your country and your type of device. We don't store your IP address: to count unique visitors, it is combined with your browser type and a random value that changes every day, and turned into a code that can't be reversed. The random value is then deleted, so visits can't be linked to you or followed from one day to the next. We also log visits from search engine and AI crawlers.

You can switch our statistics off in this browser: They are also off if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal.

Our tools

Our calculators work out their results in your browser, and on our server for that page only. We don't keep what you type.

If you create an account or join the waitlist

Accounts are optional and for people aged 18 or over. We keep your email address, when you joined, your confirmation that you're 18 or over and the emails you've chosen. You sign in with a link we email you; we don't keep passwords.

Emails are sent for us by Resend, which may process your email address outside the UK [confirm Resend's location and the transfer safeguards, for example the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the International Data Transfer Addendum]. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link. You can delete your account at any time on your account page, which removes your details straight away.

Health information

Information about your cravings, slips, mood and nicotine use is special category health data under UK data protection law. Our quit tools keep it on your own device by default. We will only store it on our servers if you choose to sync it, with a separate, explicit consent you can withdraw at any time.

Cookies

If you sign in, we set two strictly necessary cookies for up to 30 days: qv_s, which keeps you signed in, and qv_m, which tells the page you are signed in. Cloudflare may set strictly necessary security cookies. We don't use advertising or analytics cookies. If that changes, we will ask for your consent first.

Who we share information with

Only the providers that run the site for us: Railway (hosting), Cloudflare (security and delivery) and Resend (email). We don't sell your information or share it with advertisers.

How long we keep it

Account details: until you delete your account, or [period] after your last visit. Visitor statistics: kept, as they can't identify you. Server and security logs: a short period.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your information, and ask us to correct it, delete it, or stop or limit how we use it. Email hello@quitvaping.co.uk. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Children

Young people are welcome to read this site. Accounts and emails are for people aged 18 or over, and we follow the ICO's Children's Code: high privacy settings by default and no profiling.
