Medical review policy
Every page with health information is checked by a named clinician before we publish it.
Our reviewers
- [Pharmacist, with GPhC registration number]
- [GP, with GMC registration number]
- [NCSCT-trained stop-smoking adviser]
Each reviewer declares any conflicts of interest. None of them works for, or is paid by, the vape, tobacco or nicotine-pouch industries.
What a review checks
- That the information is accurate and in line with current UK guidance, including NICE guideline NG209 and NCSCT training standards.
- That medicines, including nicotine replacement therapy, are described within their licence, and that prescription-only medicines are not promoted.
- That the page never suggests vaping is as harmful as smoking, and that it is clear for people who used to smoke that going back to cigarettes is the one move to avoid.
- That it is safe and suitable for the people likely to read it, including under-18s.
- That it tells people when to get help from their GP, pharmacist, Stop Smoking Service, NHS 111 or emergency services.
How you can tell a page has been reviewed
Reviewed pages show "Medically reviewed by [name], [role], on [date]" near the top. A page that hasn't been reviewed yet is marked as a draft and is not published to search engines.
How often we review
At least every 12 months, and sooner when guidance, the law or the evidence changes.
